Shift Pin and Lock Pin

Hi guys,

I'm not sure what this little part is called, however this engine has been sitting for 15 years, so decided to try and replace the impeller and got that all accomplished well. Got the LU back up and the shift rod aligned well and got that small pin in the hole through the shift rod... when I initially went to move this locking part down, the rod that it locks onto got pushed in a little bit, and when trying to pull it out it got pushed in a little further..

Now I am at a loss as to how do I get this part back out so that I can lock the shift rod pin assembly onto it. Thanks a bunch.

I managed to get it pulled back out with a coat hangar... what a hassle.
