1970 MC-1 drive, water is coming out of the lower shift shaft when on muffs I put a new lower shift shaft seal, where would the problem be? It's coming out of lowere unit where shift shaft comes out of the unit under where the two shift shafts slide together. Thanks for any help. :(

It's normal. That whole cavity around the pump has exhaust and water in it.

Sheew, Thanks Don, That bushing or hole where the shaft comes out through is quite worn with some shaft play. So i guess the more it's worn the more water will come out huh? Gonna leave it then, You've been a great help Don thankyou. ;) She's almost ready for the big splash, few more little things.

Assuming you and I are talking about the same place, it's fine. Gotta picture of where the leak is?

It's where the lower shift shaft slides into the upper when mounting the drive. Must have it in forward gear so they can slide together. Where that "L" shape shaft comes out of the lower unit is where it's leaking from. My camera program needs to be reinstalled Don,

Seems to be a good cool flow of water coming out of the prop, because i was wondering if the water pump didnt seal right and was making pressure in there to force water out that shaft hole. Thanks Don will go for it. :D
