I own a 1995 2855 Cierra Bayliner with a 7.4 Mercruiser/Bravo III. Engine #OF290074. I went to start my boat for its weekly warm-up. However, this time the shifter made a clunk when I was idling it up and lost tension on foward throttle (still has tension on reverse throttle). I killed the engine and when I put throttle in neutral position but the button at the bottom of the shifting component did not pop back out. It's stuck and now I cannot get the think to crank over. It is like the boat does not realizing that it is in neutral. Any suggestions?

What type of controll do you have? Commander 3000?

If so, that is a not uncommon occurance.
Sometimes you can jiggle the controll forward and backward until the button pops out. Usually the problem gets worse, and the controll has to be replaced.

Also did you know that you shouldn't shift a Bravo drive without the motor running, or someone turning the props? It strains the controll and the cables.

Scott.

Thanks Scott. Have any idea how much one of these costs?
