Shifter linkage between upper and lower units

Had to have the cooling system worked on and now the gears in the lower unit click, the adustment is out how do you re--adjust so it does not click and shifts properly?

Which model engine? I have the same problem with a 25hp 4 stroke mercury which was built by Yamaha, I will let you know if the Mercury super stars come up with a helpful answer

I finally got it adusted, first it is a Yamaha 30 horse 2 stroke, the shifter wire coming out of the lower unit I first clamped it in the right position with needle nose vise grips and with the shifter in netural position screwed the two wires together and locked with the lock nut seems to be fine now, have to have small fingers or very small wrenches.......
