just not sure why an otherwise reasonable person could misunderstand you either, racer! good phrase, you have, if a little overused. Chrysler linkage and shift cams have some differences among models ---- Not sure why this is mis-understood.

Also have a red plug OMC control, without an application to date. Plan to hang onto it just in case. The potential for multiple applications makes it attractive (like it did years ago.....)

Definitely cannot do anything with the controls, but I haven't given up on reversing the linkage on the block.

There seems to be plenty of potential to do it, safely and permanently. I will update with my solution when I get there.

Fuzzy --
For reference, Marine engine dot com, crankcase assembly for 70572E:

Would think the shift lever/bellcrank assembly would have to function the opposite way from your current model (push/pull) to get the lower unit shift rod to operate the way you want, but I don’t think you can swap out linkages. If a change at the control box is not possible, you might be able to tweak the current linkage assembly at the motor -- but apparently haven’t heard from anybody so far who actually did the fix. Would be curious to see what you end up with. Good luck – would like to see a pic when you get it working.
