78 25hp evinrude is shocking me. comes from somewhere in the motor and travels down shift cable to controls. Not very fun to drive boat right now. anybody no where to start? bad ground?
The black/yellow kill wire is somehow shorted to the control box.
This problem has happened to me before on a newer motor.
Look around the key switch inside the box for rubbed/ frayed wire.

Errr....maybe not. I just looked at the year and size....it is quite different from what happened to mine. Better let the guys experienced in the older motors deal with this one. Sorry.
I would think the motor case is grounded. The control box may not be grounded. Check the engine case and the controls for ground. One thing, grounding the control will likley solve the shocking issue, but not the problem.
I would also check for bad plug wiring, and bad wiring in general.
