Ok ! Spring s right around the corner , Im getting out and do some fishing , I know you guys probably have a lot of good ways to prepare a shore lunch ( without bringing half the contents of the kitchen along ) Anyone got some simple yet mouthwatering ways of frying up you catch over a camp fire ? :)

Re: Shore lunch

Ironically enough something called "Shorelunch". Its a nice breading. (Just take floor and the breading in plastic bags).....Fry them in some oil in a cast iron skillet.

We leave the fish in the cooler, pull in to the marina and order a burger & fries. :D

Re: Shore lunch

All you need is the skillet, some oil, a fire, and a plastic bag with some corn bread crums (or flour), salt, and pepper. Clean the fish, drop it in the bag, shake it up, put it in the hot oil - you got your shore lunch without a lot of fuss. Just make sure the fire is safe - you know how that peat burns in Canada don't you? We found out the hard way and worked for about 1/2 hour to get the flames under control - lesson learned.

Catch, Clean and Cook, when it's that fresh you don't need anything else.

Re: Shore lunch

When I'm fishing, shorelunch for me is usually a can of vienna sausage and a pack of crackers.

White bass on the half-shell:

leave the skin & scales on the fillet - put 'em skin side down on a grill over a hot hot charcoal fire - brush on some italian dressing for seasoning - the skin & scales form a shell - when the fish is done just scoop it out. put a foil tent over 'em to speed up the cooking.

Great in tacos, or any other way.

Also good with striper, havent tried any of the black basses or crappie - don't think it would work with catfish. ;)
