shore up transom

12' lowe aluminum rowboat. i was wondering how i could shore up the transom? i plan on replacing the wood as its rotted. the hp plate is missing any idea on max hp?

Ayuh,... I think just replacing to Wood will be just Fine up to 10hp,...

I wouldn't put more than That on it anyways...

I had a very similar boat with a 25 horse on it. I think it may have been overpowered but boy was it fun. That thing could pull a skier. But yes I think a 10 would be great on it, I also had one with a 7.5 and it moved along just fine.

I would bet that if you called Lowe they would be able to give you the capacity for that boat. You shouldn't need to do anything other than replace the wood. Most 12' have a 10hp capacity. There are a few that go up to 15'. You'll be perfectly safe with a 10 and it will still plane will 2 people and normal gear.
