Fleetwin,where in the world did you look at etec for yourself? my cost was less than a 60 merc 4stoke ,installed and propped for free and the dealer stored my 90 erude till we found a buyer.as for noiser than a 4 stoke i call b.s. on that one .any quiter and you,d spend all day hitting the start button.and this motor starts so fast my 2 buddies with their new mercs are amazed.ive got zero against merc but dont let 1 dealer sour you .

2 stroke performance and the efficiency of a 4 stroke. If I ever had to re-power, it would no doubt be an E-tec.........

You're probably reading all the issues about the old Ficht DI mtrs. And yes, they Sucked.

i have the opinion that many problems about the fichts are generated from people who try diy repairs and service without having a clue about the specific needs of this engines. the etec owner still tends to bring it to a knowledged mechanic, the owner of an aging ficht may try to save money. the true suckers were only the first fichts, not the improved ones.
