Should you have to flush engine with when you replace lower end due to grease in oil?

You need a new mechanic. Actually you need a real mechanic.

Condensation is a slowly building issue, not in 10 minutes.

Do a comp[ression test for starters,.

he did a compression tank before doing the lower unit and it was fine

He was saying they put a grease on the end of the driveshaft. Do is inside the crankcase, correct? That is what he thinks is contaminating the oil possibly. didn't mean it was the lower end causing it.

It is not inside the crankcase. It slides into the end of the crankshaft. That's as close as it gets.

You need a new mechanic if he thinks this.

Impossible for grease on the driveshaft to contaminate the oil in a 4 stroke. Or a 2 stroke for that matter.

If the grease from the driveshaft was getting into the crankcase, oil would be running out of the motor.

ok...maybe I misunderstood..is there anything in the crankcase that would be pulled out and then put back in and greased when replacing the lower unit...he had to replace the driveshaft housing gasket when he did the lower end if that tells you anything?

not yet...I will post a pic of the oil a drained before the thermostat change....didnt drained the new oil, but looking inside the crankcase it appears the same color

After the oil sat all night, I just noticed these brown lines on the top of the oil...does this tell you anything?

Milky colour is usually water getting in .... shaft seal, case seal, or even a gasket missing on a fill or drain plug. Any warranty on the work?

It looks like the thermostat was the issue....pulled out some of the oil after replacing it and running it for 10 mins and it seems fine...just waiting for a chance to go out and run it longer to confirm that it is fixed.
