Hi

I bought a new 798ci SI Humminbird. It did not occur to me before I got home that the side image part of it would require a clear shot across the stern. There is a Large Outboard in the way and I have no idea if the side imaging will work.

Has any one on here mounted a side image transducer on a pontoon with good results???

The attached pic is the current transducer that is only down or "OLD STYLE".

Thanks. Wes

I had an Eagle tri beam that was sort of side scan and the engine never really bothered it, not much you can do anyhow so hook it up and see how it works but I don't think the engine will get inthe way too much.

I have that same fishfinder and ran into the same problem as the sidescan actually shoots out each side and if you mount it like in the pic you will have interferance on the left side but the menu allows you to turn off either side so you can scan to the right and/or straight down.

Another option is like i did and that is i mounted a piece of 1 1/2" dia. pvc about 16" long too the side of the potoon vertical and then mounted the transducer to a 1 1/4" dia. pvc about 3' long which would slide up through the 1 1/2" piece and then a clamp on the upper part of the 1 1/4" pvc to adjust the depth, and you can just leave the other mounted on the back like it is.

NOTE: The 798ci si works best at speeds of 6mph or less so i would slide mine up out of water at higher speeds and just use the other fishfinder

or goto one of the Humminbird sites and get other ideas and info

I only have one bracket to mount the t/d to and it work fine. The higher you trim the motor up the better.S00009.jpgS00010.jpg
