I have FINALLY started to apply the paint mentioned above. The first coat looks like a glazed doughnut. It took only 8 ounces of paint to cover the hull and deck. It is shiney! I have posted pictures to my project site and will continue as the painting progresses.
http://www.picturetrail.com/outonbizniz

I have mixed the signature finish with less flow fluid (making it a bit thinker) as instructed in the paints literature and used that mix to fill spider cracks that showed up VERY WELL after the first coat of paint. I sanded the cracks that i filled and they are gone. I don't know how well this will hold up but I'm willing to try it. It's ALOT easier that using filler to try to fill in the small cracks and I'm not willing to sand ALL of the gelcoat off. I hope to apply a second coat of paint this weekend.

In theory it will take 3 coats. However since I have filled the spidercracks after the first coat and sanded most of the first coat off in places I will probabally apply 4 or 5. I used on 8 oz on the first coat. I have 3 qts. so I should be fine. It's alot more work that if I had a spray rig. Guess I'm just cheap. :)

Hey Todd,
Thanks for the update. How easy is that stuff to sand? I'm getting ready to redo a deck that is about 90% covered in spider cracks. They are so small a fingernail hardly feels them but they need to be filled. I was going to use an Interlux primer and paint but may try the stuff you used. How big were the cracks you covered?

Bill

It is easy to sand. It's important to mix the 3 parts exactly as specified. It is time consuming as you must build the paint on each crack then allow almost 36 hours to dry completely before sanding fair.

More sanding! I've almost completed sanding the spider cracks that I "repaired" with the thicker paint. I should be able to apply the 2nd coat this weekend.

Looks increadible! The painting is just roller? No roll and tip? Can't wait to hear how it holds up to use. That paint may be a solution to my needs.

Go to Lexington, go east on I-64, left at Mt. Sterling, 13 miles due North. I lived in Jeffersontown when I was much younger.

Signature Finish suggested 2 32 oz cans. I bought 3 with the catalyst and flow fluid (also rollers mixing cups etc) for $360.00 shipped. I used exactly 2 32oz cans on the 5 coats and crack repair.

Is the color you used just a plain white? Do they charge extra for colors?

They don't charge extra for colors. The color I used is the exact same as interlux brightsides blu-glo white.
