Simple Windows macro...??

A group with which I work has instituted an organizational signature which fits directly below the signer's name when finishing a document. This incorporates a physical address (street number, city, state, zip.), phone and fax numbers, a website URL, and the signer's email address.

When I write something for this group, I do so on an email account accessed by web browser. (Chrome) I always need to slide over, open the Word document containing the signature, copy, close, come back in and paste. Putting it onto the clipboard is an option, but I frequently need to copy/paste sections of other text prior to the signature line, which negates its usefulness for this purpose.

I know this is easy enough if all is occurring in Word, but that's not the case here. I'm wondering whether any of you have encountered/solved this using a combination of keys to copy/paste simple text other than by using the clipboard.

Thanks guys.

What kind of email account/web client is it that it doesn't support signatures?

Microsoft Outlook has it built in. What email are you using?

Are you talking about an actual digital signature to sign off on documents, or just an informational text item?

I guess I didn't explain it well enough. (And likely don't understand it well enough either.)

The mail system I'm describing is an institutional one that must be accessed through a web browser. You log onto it through the company's URL. It's not an email program like Express or Thunderbird.

As mentioned earlier, I need to be able to place a short, six-line paragraph containing a physical address (street number, city, state, zip.), phone and fax numbers, a website URL, and the signer's email address.

I would be very surprised if what you are using doesn't have it already. Even crappy gmail has a way to automatically insert signatures.

I wonder whose software the online email client is using.

Sounds like a question for your IT department.

Agree. My company used Lotus Notes, and later Outlook across the company. Both had a method of building a signature that was then automatically inserted in every e-mail we sent.

Yes, that's the issue here Bruce. The company has its own IT department and they designed the email access.

Tim, I think you're right.

So do you work for IBM or some government agency that has not updated anything and still has Novell too?

We used it up until 2009 at First Data Corp, which happens to be the largest electronic payment processor in the country. The powers that be moved to Outlook only because it was cheaper. If you hadn't used Notes since the 1990's you were using much less capable versions of the package. Outlook was a big step DOWN from the functionality and ease of use we had with Notes.

To the OP, what software are you using, or your company using? If it's a home grown web app then you have to talk to who ever wrote it, if its a commercial package tell us which one.
Read post #11.

Epilogue:

The I.T. people were unaware that we were institutionalizing the signature. Once informed, they placed a link on the website to enable us to do it.

Thanks to everybody who answered.

Hi,

A very small, but useful free program called "Clavier+" might be what you need. You can find it using the following link -

UtilFr

Once configured you can enter lines of text with a single keystroke . I use it myself in my Windows 7 O/S and highly recommend it.
