2001 150 carb<br /> <br />Bottom 5" of skeg paint worn down to the metal on the starboard side only. Is this normal? What type and brand of primer and paint should be used?

best advice I can give you is to clean it real<br />well with vinegar prior to applying paint. <br />about 100 good paints can be used...

Paint is lacquer, garden variety black, any will do. Primer is chromate ... get the Tempo green stuff.

You can paint the whole Lower unit with etch primer and Laquer (Mercury Phant black Can), but you will NEVER get the paint to stay on the leading edges of the prop and the rudder.<br />Trust me.. I have tried everyting and the force of the water over these areas always removes the paint back to the metal.
