I have a 1998 Larson 176 Flyer with the PJX jet drive. The throttle control is a dual action throttle/reverse control. I recently had the entire floor replaced by a local shop and when they seperated the top from the bottom of the boat, they disconnected the control cables. When they put it back together, it is now very difficult to pull the lever into reverse (which on a jet causes the reverse bucket to completely cover the jet outlet). I tried disconnecting the end of the cable from the reverse bucket, but it is still very difficult to pull into reverse. Also, when I do pull it to reverse, the end of the cable doesn't really move.
What do I need to look for as the cause for something like this? I tried downloading the manual for a similar control from Teleflex, but it didn't say much. It did point out there are different models for jet drives so there must be something special about this control that makes it work. Normally, the movement of the reverse bucket from the idle position to the reverse position is no where near as much as the movement from idle to fully open (forward).
Thank you!
