Ski locker doesn't fit Skis

On my new to me boat there is a little locker in the center of the boat. When I was looking at the manual it referred it as the "Ski locker". So I tried to put skis in there and it didn't fit. I got down and looked closer and it was a much smaller compartment than I thought, a couple feet wide by about 3 feet deep. I just found it odd that my Maxum 1900 SC has a Ski locker that doesn't fit skiis. What else is suppose to go in there then?

Ive noticed this on our 180 Four Winns also. If I sit there and mess around with it for awhile I can get the skis in and our but why someone would make a 'ski locker' like that is beyond me. Its not really good for anything else since whatever you put in there will get wet. Maybe its made for little people skis?

The ski locker on my 20' boat fits my skis with about 18" to spare.

What else is suppose to go in there then?

i reckon my boat is from a different era than yours is. but on my boat the mfg. bill the ski locker (which does fit skis) as a ski rack storage or fish box. http://www.aristocraftboats.com/fiberglassbrochures/1971CompareSheet.pdf

myself, i've never used it to store fish in, nor would I . but that's what the brochure says...

so maybe fish?

The ski locker in my boat (16.5 feet officially, 17.5 LOA) is about 12 feet long! There is no front bulkhead on the locker, so it runs more or less to the very tip of the bow.

It's a very well-known misprint in your manual. It was supposed to say "Ski Rope Locker".

hrmm...only thing I can think of is what the other person said, place to store the ice and beer.

That's exactly how I designed the ski locker I built on my Starcraft, it's long enough to hold 8' salmon rods too

Just make sure you take the hooks off, helps avoid tangles.

If skis/poles didn't fit in mine I'd use it as a cooler or lifejacket storage.

Our ski locker will handle up to 69" skis, but anything longer than that won't fit. (like my dad's 72" Cypress Gardens Banana Peel slolam)

i converted mine to a cooler, glassed in some seperating walls so drinks wont be sliding back and forth for the 8' or so. Havent used it yet but it should be good, no cooler sliding around in the boat or tripping over anymore. Want a drink? there under the floor there, and the ice water drains into the bildge.

And about the wakeboarding.. then you still cant fit the wakboard in the locker.
