I offer a truce to any differences of opinion that we exchanged on the topic of hispanics and would like to put any hard feelings of distasteful comments to rest. What do you say?Deal?

I was in on the thread but I can't offer a truce with Skinnywater. I could care less about the hispanic issue but when Skinnywater said he shoots stray dogs that don't have collars (probably peoples pets) I don't like the guy and never will.
I volunteered for an animal rescue group for a couple
years and it made me realize how worthless people like you really are.

Re: Skinnywater & mattttt25

Jay, I am a dog lover. I prefer dogs to people, so does my wife. However, I think you may be being a little hard on Skinny. In many rurual areas stray dogs are delivered out there by people who don't want them. My parents live out in the sticks and dogs are dropped off out there often. What the human flotsam that abandons dogs fail to realize is that dogs, unlike cats, are no longer able to survive in the wild, they are too domesticated. Now Skinny has several options on how to deal with stray dogs. He can chase them down, capture them (which can be next to impossible) and carry them to the local Humane Society, where they will get fleas, kennel caugh, hook worms etc before being put down. Or he can leave them to wonder and die a slow and agonizing death of starvation. Or he can put them down himself.

What he is doing is hard, and may be seen as cold hearted, heck, he may be a cold hearted SOB for all I know, but he is keeping them from mateing and creating more unwanted dogs, he is keeping them from starvation, and he is putting them down in a fairly humane manner if he is a decent shot. I could never shoot a dog. It isn't in me, but I could shoot a person (home defense, protection of someone in danger, etc.) and sleep like a baby, but dogs? No way, that would haunt me till I died. But I don't think it is fair to judge Skinny so severly when he may be doing the dogs a favor. It is sad that there not enough good homes for dogs, and there are far too many crappy homes for dogs. At least my four puppies are loved and appreciated.

Just my .02

That was very perceptive.
Jay keeps making the same mistake over and over again.
He's way to presumptuous that the entire world is like he sees it. There are a lot of dynamics that play into everyones lives that can't apply to another. He's made assumptions throughout trying to make my world fit into his.
His attempts are futile because, like I said before, I'm not involved in his hash and trash.

And again, as a friendly reminder to all us dog lovers.
http://www.dogsdeservebetter.com/leashlaws.html

Stray dogs are fair game animals around here.
They kill too many hard working farmers' sheep, goats, cattle, and poultry. A pack of them attacked 9 sheep and a hereford calf just last week.

A true man of God - can shot a man and sleep like a baby... Gee I wonder what Christ would say about that?

Re: Skinnywater & mattttt25

Now your pissing me off Skinnywater.
Your anti dog links to justify your actions are a pathetic attempt to make it look like your doing everyone a favor by shooting peoples pets.
He doesn't know if the dogs he shoots are dogs dumped by worthless owners or some childs pet that have happened to of broke out of the yard. If you shot one of my dogs and I found out about it you would be judged and convicted the same way by me.
It's against the law to shoot dogs unless they are in the act or knowingly were in the act of killing livestock.
And I could easily kill a P.O.S. human before I would ever kill mans best friend.
And for you religeous freaks keep your comments to yourselves. I know the differance between right and wrong and so far I've had plenty of people do me wrong but I've never a dog.
Skinnywater you've exposed yourself as the idiot self centered loser that you are.
I hope we meet one of these days.

Hey come on guys and gals, this is just a website.

No use getting everything in a ruffle.

I see that someone needs Ray's chill pill.

Castaway Ray, give it to them.

Some of this stuff is getting ridiculous.

What started out as a truce topic has again turned into a mud slinging topic.
So sad. :(

Kind of Ironic that Ray's chill pill has given way to his new signature, a nuclear explosion... Just could not resist pointing out the irony.

Re: Skinnywater & mattttt25

A couple of years ago while I was archery hunting I ran into a pack of wild dogs, 5 to be exact. Big dogs, of the shepard mix variety, mangy mean looking dogs. Lucky for me I was able to get into my tree stand before they could get to me. Those dogs stayed at the bottom of that tree for hours. Needless to say I was shaken as well as pissed. Finally I stuck the one that seemed to be the alpha male. He ran off about 20 yards but the others stayed and were infuriated by this. I ended up sticking another one before they moved on. I was scared half to death on my walk out of the woods that evening. So I say yeah shoot the **** things if they are stray. Buy the way I am a dog owner.

Re: Skinnywater & mattttt25

Ok Jay, First somebackground, I have owned more than a few dogs in my life, they were loved and considered almost family members. But be cause we cared for our pets they did not run free and had collers in case of any well laid out escape plans. I also have small children and if I presceved even a small threat to any of my family or my dogs I would shoot them strays too. ( with no regrets ) As for your ridiculas religious freak comments and that you know right from wrong, I must say, Boy do you prove that you know right from wrong by somehow finding the life of a dog worth more than a humans. Good post there buddie and Im sure we will all be just as happy as can be to hear your next.

Re: Skinnywater & mattttt25

There are so many things I want to say here but wont. In my opinion this hot topic has a lot to do with where you live. I think many of you see the whole world as it looks from your front porch. There is many more scenerios than this. Here in the north woods strays create many problems and must be dealt with. I think much of the problem lays with people who allow there dogs to run, and if they do they will be shot here. Most people here understand this, Thats the way it is. When I got a call from my neighbor about one of my dogs chasing deer I told him: Thank you for letting me know, Give me a couple days to correct the problem and if you see her again go ahead and shoot it. This is my beloved companion of 8 yrs and playmate of my kids, but this behavior will not be allowed. P.S. I believe the law in minnesota says any dog more than half mile from home can be shot even if you know whos dog it is. They got no business running!

Even if a case went to trial it would be next to impossable to find 12 people who seen a problem with it. If you disagree, remember the view off my front porch is proabably more like roscoes than yours. A lot of it has to do with where you live.

Re: Skinnywater & mattttt25

dogs can and do survive in the wild and they themselves then become wild animals that can be very dangerous to livestock, pets and people. at this point they are no longer anyones pet...

I guess I would be one of the so called "religous freaks" here. So, you say you know right from wrong? I have just one question. If you kill the human, what happens to the dog at his house that is going to starve to death because you killed his master that is going to feed him?
Don't get me wrong I love dogs, but to ever put a human life ahead of any animals is crazy.
