Hi<br />I have to replace my thermostat on my 5,0 L EFI Mercruiser 2001 mod, and was wondering how to get out the sleeve that needs to be taken out to get the thermostat out, is it plastic?<br />Regards<br />Affa
I have but a mere 3.0 but to get mine out I laid a small piece of wood across the side of the housing and then laid a flat screwdriver on it for leverage and evvvver so gently pried up on each side a little at a time working it up and out.
They are just stuck in there with rust and corrosion. Use a hook of some kind to pull it out. If you end up breaking it, you wouldn't be the first. Just replace it.
