I have a mercruiser 130hp on my 1987 Mark Twain 17ft and the boat feels heavy on the driver side.. very hard to turn to the right and the boat feels very sluggish. The prop blades are kind of mangled and not sure if this has anything to do with it.

Mangled prop? Bad performance? Who'd have thunk it.

Your boat could also be full of waterlogged foam.

Re: slow boat

Have your prop repaired or replaced and and see how she goes.
Its bad for the gearcase to run a damaged prop anyway.

Re: slow boat

If you read the stickies at the top of the page you will understand better how to help us help you. Very carefully drill a hole just barely through the floor surface.Big enough to get a good look/feel of the foam.Usually the water is concentrated toward the back of the boat. You might unhook the steering and turn the motor by hand to be sure it isn't seized.
