Re: slow cranking

Bad battery cable(s), or corrosion on the battery connectors. Very common. Most jumper cables are not heavy enough to carry enough current to the starter. This fools a lot of folks.

Disconnect each of the battery cable connections, both positive and negative, inspect the underside for corrosion and clean thoroughly with a wire brush or similar method until connector is bright and clean. Don't forget the negative cable where it is bolted to the block. I have to do this at the beginning of every boating season.

Re: slow cranking

After all that pnwboat suggests do a compression test.
Check the lower unit for water. The bearings can rust and sieze.

Re: slow cranking

After cleaning cables and problem persists, try jumping the starter solenoid (large terminals) just to see if the solenoid is the problem. If problem persists do Jerry's suggestions first before continuing on.
