1997 150hp OMC. It will run good but once you get over 3600 to 4000 RPMS the slow safe will shut it down. Right before the slow safe activated you get a oil horn. My question is could it be the sensor in the oil tank or is the VRP pump going bad and just cannot keep up at that RPM. Would the pump tell the motor to slow or would the tank sensor. I know it is not a slow safe because of heat because when it happens I can put my had on the motor and it is not hot plus just put a new pump in it. Just prior to me putting the pump in it it got hot. Once the motor goes into slow safe you can reset it by turning the key off and back on. Is there another reset on the motor that has to be reset or just by killing the power to the motor.
I know that is alot of questions but thanks for any help
