Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my motor without spending too much $ and considering a lot of options. I currently have a 1986 Merc 350/Alpha One. I found a friend with a bravo setup that he will give me really cheap. I am wondering how many parts from my 350 would bolt up to a 454 (ignition, alternator, maybe starter, etc?). Also, what would I have to buy besides a bravo coupler. I can get a 454 long block for 2000 from rapido, what other costs am I looking at to do the conversion? I am only looking for what needs to be replaced on the engine - I know I'll have to make new motor mounts and do the transom assembly and such. Thanks in advance

Ayuh,... You'll need BBC manifolds, 'n the Bravo raw waterpump...

Carb(though you'll probably want a bigger 1), 'n Distributer. 'n starter don't care, not sure on the Alt. brackets, 'n P/S brackets...

What about parts like timing cover, bell housing, starter, pulleys, oil pan, flywheel, etc? I'd like to purchase as few parts as possible. I actually have an alternator, P/S bracket that I bought once by mistake. And are you saying the alternator and P/S from the sbc would bolt right onto the bbc witht he right bracket?
