Small new problem I hope

88 Chevy 305... New tune up new points new carb and new fuel pump... I am trying to set dwell and my timing but the motor won't stay idling???? I have to keep playing with the remote to keep the motor alive.... something I am missing??? Oh also my dizzy tie down clamp is loose so I can set timing and I was reving the motor and oil was coming out, you guys think it will stop when I tight the bolt????
