Re: Smallest Aft Cabin?

While I agree that many of the suggestions here for Weekenders and such are great boats, the OP was looking at the SMALLEST aft cabin suggestions. 10' beams seem to be getting away from the original premise. My assumption that the new/used aft cabin would be light enough to be towed by something other than a full blown dually. Again great boats guys, but once you clear 24', not exactly mini cruisers anymore.

Sorry about the hijack.

I think the best thing to do for the op is find some local boats for sale and take a look. Honestly I have never towed a 21' aft cabin boat but have towed a 27' with an 8.5' beam and would think the little bit if length doesn't make that much difference. I prefer towing the longer trailer, when compared to the 18' car trailer.

why no tlook at cuddy cabins instead? they fit well on smaller boats without the limitations of the aft cabin. The infant will be more visible, accessible and ventilated.

Yep, that was going to be the ole stand by.... lotta sharp cuddies out there. I was just checking my options... the bigger aft cabins are so darn nice, I figured I'd see how far I could push it! :D

I agree about checkin em out.... I'd like to go to the boat show to get a good idea and go from there. Interesting thought on the longer narrower boats.

Ok, how about this..... A small non aft cabin cabin cruiser? That way I don't have to worry about fumes and heat maybe as much and still have a functional galley. Does this sound better to you guys?

I think if your in the 21-22' range, and you opt for not getting an aft cabin model, the galley and head will turn into a porta poti and a sink. A cuddy verse a small cruiser, changes the boat up a bit.

I think your on the right track with a small aft cabin style boat.

Here is an example (out your way also) of a 21' Cuddy cabin. Notice the lack of head room, galley and formal head.

Here is an example of a slightly larger 23' Pocket Cruiser, also located out your way.

No idea what your looking to spend, what years etc... but I think you would be happier with a cruiser, vs a cuddy.

Wow - he sure turned that "recent" $3K outdrive into a beat up lump of crap real quick. Between that and the siezed motor - no wonder he hates to let it go...:p

Wish I had the room for that beat up piece of crap. That seems like a great price for that boat.

Canman:

Look in the Thundercraft Boats section...I answered your question about weight and fuel capacities.

Re: Smallest Aft Cabin?

there are two popular old mini cruisers that were sold in good numbers: bayliner and sea ray.

the sea ray 21 seville could be had with an aft cabin, really nice layout- just avoid the '86 '87 models that had the 3.7L 4cyl. 88-90 had the good 4.3 v6

bayliner made the 2150/55 as mentioned, then named it the 2255 through 1993. last years were best , also with 4.3 v6

some rare 2150s came with a v8 - quick little boats.
