Smart Tabs on deck boat

Morning Gang,

I'm thinking about Stainless Smart tabs on my Hurricane 202, 3400 lbs wet. The boat gets on plane quickly with not much bow rise to speak of. But wants to drop off plane at low cruising speeds under 25 mph. Will Smart Tabs help with lower planing speeds? I think I should go with the 80 lb actuators for this boat.

Also do you think the boat will handle better at non-planing speeds? Like 3-10 mph? The boat seems to track weird at slow speeds. Can smart tabs improve these issues?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, mine (not deck boat) stays on plane at slower speeds, I used to have a slow speed wander until I put Smart Tabs on, If you read what their website has to say about them, they do it all, at least for me they did.

Thanks!

This is what I was hoping to here!

So the 80 lb actuators are the ones to get for my boat correct?

....slide up to the top of the forum page and read all the comments in the Smart Tabs Stickie.
I have them on my 20' V-20 and am still amazed after two seasons of the difference they have made. Quicker planing, lower planing speed, almost eliminated slow speed wander and I think I might just be getting a bit more mileage !!!
I had doubts but John at Nauticus assured me of the right choices in tabs. I can even give a positive vote for their warranties as John resolved a minor issue with just one Email.
To second the above replies......YES and YES.
FWIW.....Ed in 'ol Virginny:)

Just place order with iboats! Should have them Thursday, install Friday, and test on Sunday!

Thanks again for advice...

I went with the 80 lb actuators per nauticus tech.

Re: Smart Tabs on deck boat

I tested the Smart Tabs today. Stainless with 80 lb actuators. I'm on-plane instantly, and can keep on-plane @ 16 mph GPS. Very cool. Only thing is my top speed is 4.5 mph slower. I adjusted the actuator to the # 1 position toward the stern for less pressure, and nothing. I think I may need the 60 lb actuators. Anyone????

Yeah, talk with Nauticus. 60 lb. might be the solution. Also shift as much weight aft as possible. She won't porpoise with the tabs and that may help you get the bow up higher at full up trim.
