Looking for opinions on pros/cons for taking the gauge route or the gateway route.
My main goal is to have the ability to track fuel usage. Originally I was thinking of taking the gateway path and hook up to my GPS, but my tach is a little on the bouncy side I have to smack the gauge at times so it will read correctly. Now I'm thinking going with a smartcraft tach gauge.
If I understand correctly, either way I go, I will need some type "cabling" to get from the engine to the helm. Either a 2k backbone or cabling (possibly smartcraft hub) for the gauge.
Is the same engine data available including engine codes regardless of which path is taken? I understand that the available data is dependent on the MCM/PCM.
