When you say the seal kit came with a gasket that fits perfectly under the impeller housing, is it an o ring that you are speaking of? The impeller will ride on it. As far as the procedure to remove the driveshaft and prop shaft, it is fairly lengthy, and should be covered fairly in depth in your manual. You will need some specialty tools though, such as a good set of snap ring pliers, bearing puller etc...

No, I'm not talking about the O-ring. The kit came with the rubber O-ring to use in the impeller housing as well. But I'm talking about a gasket that has 4 holes on each corner for the screws to go through. (that holds the pump in place) It appears to me that the gasket would go ON or under the impeller plate. Similiar to the gasket that goes under the shift rod cover, but it fits the impeller plate.

i just bought 16 foot fiberglass o.b tri-hall boat with 1978 55 hp johnson with elac. start aswell cold u tell me how fast should it go and i just changed my pitch on my prop from a 15--to a 11 would this speed me up.....
