Re: Sooo Many Choices- What to do??? Motor?

I was using the Kicker because many lakes in NJ only permit a 9.9hp. Good fishing lakes but no OB >9.9.

Upinsmoke: the vehicle is a GMC Envoy GCVWR is 10,000 lbs, Vehicle=5,700, Boat/Motor/Trailer/Gear=2,911 = 8,611, Me/Wife/Luggage/Veh Fuel=840 9,4351 lbs

Safety Buffer = 549 lbs

Bulwarks,
My best friend just bought a 2005 Crestliner 1850 with a 115 and it is Way underpowered. That boat is rated for 175hp and has a huge beam. His is rigged with a 115hp and 15hp kicker
and a 87lbs 24volt motorguide.
This boat takes a LONG LONG time to get on plane and top speed is under 40mph with a light load and only 2 people. The kicker works great for trolling.
My friend pulls this with his toyota tocoma v-6
His truck pulls the boat with no problems.
The trailer is first class with great brakes.
I Thought that since brunswick bought crestliner brand from GENMAR you could only get them rigged with mercury motors.
Goodluck
