Anyone know the part number for the special socket to remove the 4 pin spanner nut on a merc 110 lower unit?

I see responses on here from time to time. I think one time ebay supplied it. I just made mine at the time......many years ago.

Answer your own post with the word Bump to put it back at the top for better viewing and possible solution.

Yeah i saw a few on ebay but theyre for the bigger gearcase on 150 and up outboards.

Ill likely end up welding a couple pieces of small square bar to a piece of pipe then welding a junk half inch socket to that.

That'l work. Soak it good with penetrating oil.....PB Blaster or better, you may wind up cutting the nut and prising it out if corrosion is really bad. The threads will have to be chased before you reassemble. A new nut would be a good idea anyway as you will have smooth threads to screw into the corroded housing.

I got the tool made. I took an old leaf spring and plasma cut out a piece the same shape as the inside of the spanner nut and then welded a 3/4 gas pipe then a 3/8 drive socket to the end.

It works great.
