I have a 1966 95 hp in storage 30 years, changed oil in lower unit, new impeller kit, checked spark, only on 3 cylinders, switched coil wires and still had same 3 plugs firing.Looked at points and they did'nt seem to be opening very much,so I opened both a little and also ran a piont file across them. Checked spark again and had the same strong spark on the same 3 plugs, but the other 3 plugs had a intermiten spark for a few seconds but then quit .If I had a bad condenser could this cause the problem? Also what is the correct gap for the points. Need to buy new cap and wires as I cannot seem to get any of the wires to come out of the cap. Any help would be great as I am so close to hearing it run. thanks again Bryan

Re: spark on 3 cylinders

I think those older spark plug wires have to be unscrewed.I had a 64 johnson 75hp that you had to tutr the wires counter clockwise to loosen.the point gap is usually on the points somewhere.
