Spark Plug Removal Problem

5.7 L Mercruiser. Sparkplug on starbord rear of engine broke on removal.The threaded portion of the plug remains in the head. The hex portion of the shell, and the porcelain insulator with electrode center were removed. Short of removing the head, are there any suggestions for removing the threaded portion of the shell?

hello<br /> they make a square easy out. carefully tap it in place and attempt to extract it. DO NOT tap it in so far that the threads swell. usually this problem is caused by lack of maint. you may wish to tighten up the maint schedule<br /> good luck and keep posting

Thanks! Lack of maintenance is an understatement, I inherited the boat from my Aunt, the engine spent a lot of time underwater.
