Hi,
I have a brand new Mercury Optimax (from may). According to the maintenance manual I am suppose to change spark plugs after the first 100 hours. BUT - my dealer can not get them. He is told that there are none left in EUROPE and we will have to wait for new deliverys! Anyone knows something abourt this, and maybe a place to buy them in US and ship them to me?

Yours sincerely

Jan Jorgensen,
Denmark

Re: Spark plugs Optimax

The factory shop manual for my 2001 Optimax states "Remove the spark plugs to inspect and clean. Replace spark plug if electrode is worn or the insulator is rough, cracked, broken, blistered or fouled". I did this at 100 hours, cleaned with brake cleaner and a small brass brush, did a compression check, and reinstalled. My plugs are an expensive platinum tipped NGK( PZFR5F-11) that exhibited very little wear. I am not sure what you have but I will change mine out at 200 hours. Bob
