Re: Spark Plugs

I've been very happy with NGK BR6FS plugs in my 5.7

Plug brand will raise as many responses as an oil brand :)

Re: Spark Plugs

now I need a good coil

What ignition system are you running?

By the way - I agree with the others on the Ac plugs... but the NGK are good as well. I personally would suggest staying away from the Champions. So you did good buying the AC's! ;)

In other words you had points at one time and have changed out to the Pertronix system? Do you have the Ignitor II? You want a coil that is internally resisted, not external, as the Pertronix wants a full 12 volts. To make it simple you can buy the Pertronix Flamethrower coil.

Re: Spark Plugs

A quick and easy (and cheap!) solution is to go down to your local auto parts store and get a universal 12v internally resisted coil. If they need a part number, you can use Standard Ignition part # UC-15. As an example, you can buy that coil at Summitracing for $22.

(In this case, there is no need to be worried about the automotive / boat safety issue. A coil is a coil).
