spark tester

Hi can I use a adjustable spark tester with the engine running or would it cause any damage , to be used on 8HP evinrude

No damage. I've done it quite a few times. If you want to monitor your spark, you can also use a timing light.

You could, but dangerous due due to high electricity continuous jumping all over the tester's plate. Better use it as stated on service manual.-
