Both cylinders should have spark. The first place to check is the points. Make sure they are clean and gapped correctly. Proper gap is usually listed on the flywheel but if memory servs me it is .020. If you have an ohmmeter make sure there is continuity through the points when they are closed. It is also a good idea to do a good visual inspection of the coils. Make sure they are not cracked. Good luck!:)

Re: spark?

The points are under the flywheel, and you a puller to remove the flywheel.
Your manual will explain the complete process on removing the flywheel and setting the points.

Yes , a puller. You need to remove the crank nut off the flywheel, put a puller on it and pull it off. I myself don't use a puller, if you have an air chisel, put the round blunt chisel into the air tool, put a prybar under the flywheel and pry up. Put the air chisel straight down on the crank where the indent is and fire away, the vibration should free the flywheel unless it is badly rusted on but I have yet to have a flywheel stop me using an air chisel. Points are like contacts, there are 2 points and 2 condensors under the flyweel. They go bad, if you replace them you will need a standard feeler gauge and gap them to .020. Coil could also be bad, a wire could be bad, a wire could have come out of the coil. Start with the flywheel fun and check things out.
