Speaker box method

Hey everybody! im new here and am pretty familiar with boats just never built one. anyway, if any of you are familiar with how fiberglass speaker boxes are made (wood, fleece, fiberglass etc...) i would like to build a small boat like this. is this possible? i know just fleece and epoxy wouldn't be enough but i could put multiple layers of glass etc. to add support. i dont want anything spectacular just was wondering if this theory would work because i have more experience with speaker boxes than boats but would like a project.

My rear speakers are in the rear seat frame and when I had to rebuild one I just used plywood and sealed it with resin top to bottom both sides, reused the carpet and done. These little 6.5" speakers pound like a sub.

Welcome aboard.......

So am I to understand....... you want to build a boat out of fiberglass from scratch?

With your present skills, they will transfer to boat work with ease. Then you can learn about epoxy and really build strong stuff!!

Yes Bob_VT. I would like to build a wooden boat frame/skeleton and then stretch fleece over it and then epoxy and fiberglass the fleece to make the boat hull. obviously i would reinforce it to but does that make sense? is this idea crazy?

Okay but I will warn you.....Boat Hulls are thick for the strength.

Read here and read post 11 first http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=288451....... it will take you some time but a wealth of fiberglass information

nothing very big at all. At most maybe 10 feet.
