My speedometer has almost stopped working. Sometimes but not always. It get stuck or only goes up half way instead the full 42 or 45 mph. What should I look for first? Can I have the unit tested? And how does it operate?

Water pressure. There is a pitot tube hanging off your stern. You probably have something clogging the tube somewhere between the pitot pick up and the gauge. Pull the hose off the gauge and the pitot and blow compressed air through it from the gauge side.
