speedometer accuracy?

How accurate are those types of speedometers? I have GPS and just unhooked the old speedometer off the dash when i got my boat cause it did not work, but i would like to have that gage working and re-install it if it is somewhat accurate. My outboard's lower unit has that pickup built into it but i have it disabled for the moment cause i do not have the gage installed in the dash. Im just wondering how accurate can that be? I dosent seem like it could be that consistant as its just air pressure that controls the needle, right? Just wondering?

the are some what accurate. you have to use your gps, and just see how far off the are. usually get less accurate the higher the speed.
