Speedometer and Tach.

I have a 1985 XR2 150 H.P. . I need to know how to hook up the speedometer and Tachometer. All was disconnected from the motor when I bought it and my Merc. manual doesn't show what i need. Thanks Lee
P.S. This would be at the motor.

Tachometer is normally hooked up through the dashboard harness off the controls. In the engine, it goes to either of the yellow wires on the rectifier, starboard side on theswitchbox mounting plate.

Speedometer is fed from a hose that comes up from the lower part of the mid through the same hole that the shift rod goes down through. Pitot hole in in the front of the LU, just above the point.

Thank you , I also see a small hose or tube if you will that comes off the top center of the motor that has been cut off. Any ideas. thanks

Thats more than likely where it had a water pressure guage connection. Hook it up or plug it off if you don't have one. Best to get one (pressure guage) if you don't have it................
