Speedometer Question?

I got the pitot tube in the mail just as i was leaving for the river so I backed up and put it on. When I got the boat out and planed out the guage was only going up to 15 mph and im sure I was going at least double that. What could be the problem? The guage is 38 years old like the boat and the tube that goes from the pitot to the dash.

well the first thing you might want to check is that the tube is clear all the way to meter. if you can get some one to help you thake both ends loose and stick one end in a glass of water. blow on the other and make sure a bug hasnt crawled in there and died.

Before I ordered the pitot I used a syringe with water in it to see if the guage would go up and it did all the way to 60. I will try to pull to tube off and check that, it may be kinda hard to get off the guage but I'll go check in a bit.
