speedometer

[seaswirl striper]

First post here...just found this site and i am addicted already! I have a 89 seaswirl striper 20 foot with a 4.3 cobra. I am having a problem with my speedometer kinda moving alot at most speeds? I doesent stay steady so it's kinda harda to read? Any thoughts on a fix? Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Striper! The addiction will grow! I'm certainly no speedometer expert but it sounds as if it may be a problem with the pickup. Maybe a partial blockage or turbulence or something like that. What type is it? I'll admit that I gave up on speedometers the day I got my first cheap little handheld Magellan GPS. Much more accurate and reliable (speed over bottom, that is).JMO
