spindle good enough? help pics

Thank you guys in advance for checking this out and any advise.

Bought a used 13.4 whaler, with trailer. Changed out the bearings on trailer. One side the rear bearing had disintegrated and was frozen to the spindle. To remove was ttricky and we accidentally nicked the spindle. :facepalm: Please check out the pics and let me know if we ruined our spindle.

Trailer carries 13.4 whaler approximately 15- 20 miles to boat ramp (no greater than 45 mpg speed limits)
note on the pics the small burr also. :facepalm:

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... That spindle looks just Fine...

The Seal Surface is another story though,...
It needs some serious emery cloth work to smooth that rust out/ off...

A seal wouldn't last a mile the way it is...

Hard to tell how bad the bearing area nicks are, but it looks like the seal area behind it is badly corroded. This could destroy a seal quickly. I would just look for a new axle.

You might want to look at your springs too, if they need replacing then a new axle would surely be in the mix.
If your going to stick with what you've got a Speedy Sleeve is a good alternative to the seal surface problem.

2nd the speedi sleeve. Take a measurement with a caliper and check the size chart on the speedi sleeve site. They are worth every penny. My front axle was slinging grease and two sleeves later two years ago and no grease yet. Good little gadgets.

Take some emery cloth to it and smooth it out.. You shouldn't have any problem unless it is really gouged.

A+++ on the seal sleeve........spindle is fine,those nicks won't have any negative effects at all.

wow. Thanks to all the replies and advise.

The springs look ok to me.

Will clean up that seal area. I haven't cleaned up the corrosion yet, will try to smooth it out and definitely look into the Seal Sleeve .

nicks on the top of the spindle arnt to bad, the weight is on the bottom, a polish on the seal area and you should be fine , worst case is it may seep a bit of grease , and then you can look into the seal sleaves
