Starmada - Last year North Beach got the inaugaural SOTY award for the Liquid Limo. Time to start thinking about the nominees for this year. For the new guys here is a pic.

Bret built an absolutely amazing little boat:)

Just my opinion, hands down the nicest Starcraft project here on the site.

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

I think sprintst got his in the water this year..... - I always liked last dollars orginality - who had that greyed out mariner?....I think Azlo is looking at 2012....

Searay's- no matter how good - are prolly a DSQ.....I always thought the plaque be given to to the Starmadian who not only has an outstanding resto - but also some qualitative elements also - participation on the board, good jokes, degree of difficuty, most for the least......

TGP's 66 Nassau, black beauty for sure. Go to post #99

CBGale2's 14' Falcon
really nice looking boat.

Kenny~hopeshefloats 1961 Holiday
Great boat, great guy. I hope he's doing ok.

Put your boat in there too Clark, it's a head turner.
The Bare Naked lady

It's pretty impressive the amount and the quality of the Starcraft restorations.

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

Perhaps there should be an official scoring sheet.

Boat shape when purchased = 10 points for a complete basket case, and 4 points for simple tune up & go water ready deal?
Original Paint = 10 points for a complete strip/paint job, and 4 points for a "Hose it off, just dirty" paint job.

Just tossing it out there, and seeing what sticks to the wall..

veilside180sx's '71 16' SShttp://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=451433

Shows you what kind of fishing boat you can build with a Starcraft.
Great pictures and lot's of precious metal.

My vote goes to Kenny/HopeSheFloats...'61 Holiday fully restored, outboard tuned and ready for the water.:)

Not sure when he splashed it, but he sold it shortly afterwards. He still stops by and I'm sure he'll get another rig someday:)

I know Azlo is gonna win whichever year his gets wet:D

I'm with Kev on this. How much did you give back to the nation. Howza's 14' Kingfisher is as impressive as any, but he's here and gone in a flash. The craftsmanship on that boat is A+. There has to be more than just a pretty face to woo me though. Guts and determination are what impress me as much as quality work.

My .02 cents on this. Cool award I like the concept, can't wait to see who wins.

My sentimental favorite is Hopeshefloats. It's tough though, so so many great boats.

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

How about Paparoof's Islander getting a shot at the prize. Determination pays off.

I know I did not restore one, yea I'm lucky or lazy:D. My time will come. But I still should get at least a 1/2 share of nominating power.

Ooohh if there was an award for determination paproof would be hard to beat. When I do my deck, I'll follow pr's recipe.

Re: Splash of the Year Time!!!!

i'd second that one. Pap's been a constant inspiration to me and he wins points for year in-year out determination to get that big old crock going. not sure how to weight it in Kev's scale, but i think a resto of a Chieftain/Islander or similar big un should count for more than a 12 or 14' (Zach, if you're reading this, the "age adjustment" cancels this out so you'll be in the running for next year...)

BTW, i assume the relevant "year" is from award to award, not calendar years?
