What does the little splash plate above the anti-ventilation plate plate do? I broke the splash plate on my briggs and stratton today and was wondering if I would be ok to still use the engine on Very small Whaler and a 12 foot john boat without tons of water coming in.

Sloopy isn't being sarcastic.

He failed to mention that I suggested to him by IM that he try her out. I didn't expect any problem.

Re: Splash plate

I sent you a thank you email. I also raised the outboard up half an inch and now it goes 22 mph but is really unstable. Thanks J.B!

Re: Splash plate

No there is no rooster tail. The outboard is at 4700 rpm when going 18-20, was the max speed, I don't know how long that was for. I measure the speeds with a Garmin Etrex GPS and a Blazer 12 gps.
