Hi guys, i have a question about my exhaust bellow. After the last time i had my boat out on the lake, i noticed that my exhaust bellow was almost tore in half. The question is, could/did i do any damage to anything by this being pretty much wide open? I checked the oil and there are no signs of any oil in there. I am assuming that is the reasons the manifolds are higher up on the block, to keep the water out, but i wanted some more knowledgable opinions before i decided it was ok. Thanks for any info.

It would be nice to know what make we are talking about.....
That said, it won't hurt anything.....
Replace it with an exhaust tube if it is a Merc.....:)

Re: Split Exhaust Bellow

Sorry it is on an alpha I 1988 is the year of the boat. I replaced them all last year when i replaced the lower unit on my boat, but it was an aftermarket bellow, and it seems to have just split. What exactly do you mean by replace with a tube? Just ordered a merc oem bellow to replace it, is there something better to use?

Re: Split Exhaust Bellow

The tube is simply much easier to install than the bellows. Water is in there anyway - so a split is no big deal.
