My wife and me are looking to upgrade our Thompson 29ft boat into a 32ft to 40ft boat with 2 separate staterooms or more.

Which models are out there in the sportfishing / sedan / convertible boats ? Keep in mind budget is limited, don't point to a 2005 40 ft Hatteras, of course I cannot afford it.

My dream boat is the classic Trojan F36 but I haven't seen any with 2 staterooms, just a bunk beds instead of dinette.

The Silverton 34 and 37, as well as the Trojan 32 and 36 are redily available but neither will have a 2nd stateroom. Look into more of a sportfish boat, some Chris crafts, possibly older egg harbors, Viking etc. The galley will most likely be up on the boat you look at as well.

You didn't give a price range or age to zero in on, so there may be many options for you.

You can dump anywhere from $50,000 - $250,000 depending on your image of what you want.

Look at the mid-range boats for a starting point. Silvertons, Carvers, Meridian, Bayliners, Cruisers, etc in the 34-39' range. You can assume (+-) 300 gals. fuel, 80 gals. water, fridge, freezer, 2 TV's, cooktop, microwave, 7KW generator, 2 A/C systems, etc. Big ***** RV on the water.

Mine is a 2001 Carver 37' convertible. It has a queen forward centerline berth and a portside stateroom. the portside is twin size, with a seperate board/cushion to increase it to a double.

The loveseat opens up to a sleeper and the flybridge table drops down with cushions to make a double sleeper up top. (I crash there A LOT...wonderful).

You can get into this for $120,000-$150,000, depending on condition, hours, powerplants, maintenance issues, upgrades, etc. We absolutely love ours and use it constantly.

Get a survey done prior, of course.

Good luck!
