1988 150 blk max
Started up the moter today. Got spring fever real bad. Started right up! proglem is the idle was too high. Started at 1000rpms. The rpms then lowered to 800then it began to run a little rough. The rpms jumped to 2000 I hed to rev the throttle a little to reduce the rpms. Any ideas?
Was it the fog in the motor {ran1\2 hr}? Pulled the plugs they were oily. HELP!!
Thanks , Dead Eye

As Lubedude says.. You've gotta try it on the water.I have an 86 Suzuki 6hp, which smokes and fills the tank with 2 stroke oil.. Idles like it's running on 1 cyinder.
Dropped it down and tried it(Auxiliary) last week and it ran like a charm.. No smoke, quiet and powerfull enough to push a 15ft FG boat and round 5 knots...
Hard to tell how they run until there is a decent amount of water to push through.

You can't really evaluate an outboard in the driveway (unless you have a test wheel). Put it in the water and give it a go then see where you are. The good news is it runs!
