Alright guys, I finally got my OMC Cobra's back from the guy who re-built them for me. I bought all the seal kits and he charged me $300 bucks to re-seal and pressure/vacuum test! :D:D

I am looking at maybe installing them this weekend if it's nice out depending if we get a snow storm or not!

I have two new transom service kits which includes everything needed including Gimbal Bearing and bellows. What do I need to do the job? I do already have an engine alignment tool that i purchased but I was also debating on making sure the shift cables were adjusted correctly. It does have the new shift cables (red casing) but sometimes the port side engine would grind a little if you didn't shift quick...but the guy said the gears look fine.

Also, I do have the factory OMC Manuals as well but just looking for tips/tricks, etc...

Thanks guys!!! :)

Re: Spring is getting close!!!

I used a a 4x6 pressure treated beam that I laid across the stern onto a 10ft step ladder then I just hung the heavy cobra outdrive with a ratchet strap from there. Have you ever aligned a drive before. There are a few videos on youtube but basically check that the engine mounts are secured on the stringers and all is tight there. Then if you are replacing the gimbal bearings get the right tools to pull and put back in. The gimbal boot is also easy, remove the old one clean the area it was on then install .I used a 3m scotchgrip adheisieve on the gimbal assembly side .I did not want that boot slipping on me 30 miles out at sea.Note there is a notch on the gimbal assembly that the bellows boot kinda snaps into(stern side) make sure you dont push the boot past this groove. When aligning the bearing to the engine coupler and the outdrive shaft,, slide the alignment tool with the end greased up push it till makes contact to the back of the coupler if it goes in your done if not take a rubber mallet and while slightly pushing the tool in wack the end of the tool down then up then left then right it should go in because the engines were not removed. It should when removed have an equal amount of grease that show the imprint of the splines.
