Well spring is officially here and it was in the 50's today.
So I made a trip up to the lake to see how far away boating season might be. :joyous:
It doesn't look so good so far.

The Lake (Erie) is still mostly solid Ice.
The good news is there is a hole of open water with some gulls in it about a half mile off shore.
Otherwise it is Ice all the way to the horizon. :blue:

When it melts, it tend to go quicky, or at least a good South wind will push it over to the Canadian side in just a few hours. The North winds don't help much.

Meanwhile in Texas, a low of 64 tonight and a high of 80 tomorrow! Gotta love it! This winter it did get down to 12 degrees at my place though. Its the coldest I've ever experience, and hope to never feel it again! lol

12* I wish it only got down to 12! Here we had as cold as -25C, or -13 for our southern neighbors. In Alberta where I used to live it got down to the -40-50C range regularly. And not just for a day or two. It would stay that way for a few weeks at a time. Part of the reason I moved was the winters up there.

Normal spring here in WA State, 50's and 60's. Not a very long cold spell this winter, a few days at -4f. Most of the lakes are thawed now except for the higher elevations.

You guys in the upper midwest got hammered this year. I hope it's a nice spring and summer for you guys to make up for it.

Hammered in the upper-midwest? We finally warmed up the other day and now both my neighbor and I have about 1.5" of ice INSIDE the garage! My boat trailer is frozen to the garage floor.

I think they will be dodging large chunks of ice off of the Keweenaw Peninsula well into June this year !

It's 63? here today with a water temp of 54?. I see some folks with outboards out in the sound already but no stern drives yet. I'm probably going to wait another couple of weeks until I'm pretty sure we won't get an overnight freeze before I put mine in the water.

I live in S.E. Michigan and near Lake St Clair. It is locked tight with ice at 20" right now. No boating for awhile here.
