I need to rebuild a system in a foreclosure home I purchased... need new valves and control box. What brand is most reliable, best value?

Built my house six years ago and had a Rain Bird system installed. Changed the backup battery once - no problems what-so-ever. Gawd - I hope that's not the kiss of death.

I have a Rain Bird system at my house and have never had a problem with it. No experience with the other brands.

I used to install RainBird systems. I liked the quality and never had any problems except for some tweaking of individual zones, and then there was that one guy that turned the system of to cool him self off whi8le he cut the grass........ He needed several heads replaced.

The only word of caution I have to offer is make sure when you re install the valve body, make sure there is a anti-syphon installed(required in most states, and yes it's a good idea) and if you in a climate where it freezes, leave a place to attach an adapter so you can hook an air compressor to it to blow the water out for the winter.
